‘Mehran’ to vie at Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly

Iranian feature ‘Mehran’ is to compete at the Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly in France.

Iranian feature ‘Mehran’ has been set to compete at the Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly in France.

Roqayyeh Tavakkoli’s ‘Mehran’ is one of the seven films which have been selected to take part in the festival’s competition section.

Tavakkoli has said her film tells the story of a boy named Mehran who hosts a family from the Iranian city of Mehran which was affected by the 1980-88 Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

The film is about the hospitability of the people of Yazd during the war.

‘Mehran’ was awarded at the 2020 edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults in Iran.

The first edition of the Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly was initially scheduled for March, but was postponed to November 4-7 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The festival offers a platform for talented Iranian directors to introduce their works to the world arena.

The Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly is organized by the Franco-Iranian Center in collaboration with the municipalities of Chantilly and Senlis as well as several Iranian art institutions and film production companies.

The upcoming edition of the event will take place on November 4-7.
